Calendar cycles

Long, long ago
Before calendars made
Our lives full of busyness
Counting seconds, each day

For out of the cycles
To the world, we've come
From spirals in spirals
Real time, there is none

Endless cycles, spiraling
Beyond the blue sky
Into, out of the void
From no source they fly

But now clicks of clocks
Noisy beeps and buzzing
Calendars have made
Lives stressful, always rushing

So standing in lines
Is what humans now do
In the natural world
Nothing's trying to do

We need to get organized
Some want to conform
To social conventions
Establishing norms

In the past was the moon
We watched, counted lunar
The sun made us grow
So now we count solar

Our calendars began
To remind us of when
But the spin of the wheel
Is a cycle, no end
