Momentary mind-controlled fool

Desire often has its way
To please a mind left to play
Wants, in never-ending streams
Take hold the thoughts, they find a way

Making things seem better, necessary
Things I don't have now, are many
Wanting creeps in pleasing images
The wants grow stronger and aplenty

Coming from the outside, in
Loaded by the senses, strong
Seizes a mind craving satisfaction
Waiting often seems far too long

Convincing myself the need is real
Habit speaks to habits' ears
Desire gets stronger, accelerated
As talk speaks into passive ears

As I talk it over in my mind
The thought it loops around, around
Any reason justifies a newfound need
As wants arise, the needs are found

Unless my will gets in the way
To see itself, to end the game
As thoughts caught in emotions' play
Needs and wants become the same

Desire has its source, a pool
And senses snare the thoughts they rule
As wanting leaps, excitement flies
Making me a momentary, mind-controlled fool
