Crimson moonset

There, hanging low on an ink black horizon
Just visible, on the distant mountain line
A waxing gibbous moon
Deep crimson, as if at the end
Of time
Strangely greeting me
Why here? Why now?
Am I awake?
And it's gone
Nothing more to anticipate
Only the last drop
My heart sinks into the sublime
Nothing else...
Peace prevails
In the dark night sky
